Simon originally graduated from Middlesex Polytechnic in 1986, he spent his first year of work at Harrison Information Technology and Hayden Laboratories. Moving on in 1987 he started work for Teac UK at its conception and established their UK service department in Watford. After two years he moved to Sony Broadcast & Communications now known as Sony BPE (UK) Ltd as one of four Professional Audio engineers that formed the highly respected team known as "London Field Service", during his time at L.F.S. Simon built up a reputation as a dedicated professional who; "could be relied upon to get the job done". At the time of setting up Audio Related Systems Engineering Ltd Simon was the main contact within the UK and Eire for all technical matters relating to Sony professional audio products, a role he has largely continued within Audio Related Technology Ltd.
