Sony’s intentions for converting existing Analogue CH-69 to Ch 38 - 40.

Ofcom recently announced shared licenses for Ch38 will be available from the New Year. In some UK areas where Ch 38 cannot be used to protect radioastronomy sites in Cheshire and Cambridgeshire and terrestrial television transmissions where digital switch over has not taken place shared access to Ch 39 & 40 has been made available.
In essence this means you will be able to operate your equipment in the frequency spectrum covered by Ch38 from 4th January 2010.
Sony is currently ‘Studying’ the prospect of providing a conversion kit from the current 67/69 to the new Ch 38- 40, for the current 800 series products.
The situation with the DWR digital series is similar but is likely to be handled in a different way to the existing analogue systems. We will keep you informed via this website or you can register for email updates. (This does NOT mean we will send you useless ads, we will only send relevant info as when it becomes available.)
There are no plans at present, we are aware of, to convert the UWP and Freedom series.
We are awaiting the final confirmation of cost and availability. Once a final plan has been decided upon we aim to be able to run a fast and efficient service to all our customers ensuring the process is smooth, seamless and cost effective as possible.
